Basic Sea Kayak Skills

Paddle Canada Basic Sea Kayak certification course.
Ages 16 and up.

 

This full day course covers the basic knowledge and skills all paddlers should have before heading out on the water. The focus of this course is on boat handling and safety.  Participants will learn about safety equipment and injury prevention, boat design features and proper outfitting, as well as developing strokes for efficient maneuvering. Wet exits and assisted re-entries are also introduced at this level. This Paddle Canada certification course focuses on developing the foundation of sea kayaking skills. Participants will gain knowledge and practical skills to competently paddle with others in sheltered waters.
